At the 2018 conference we are holding two types of auctions. A Silent Auction and a Chance auction.

Items up to a value of $50 will be in the Chance Auction and items over that amount will be in the silent auction.

How does the Chance Auction work?

In a Chance Auction, bidders are not prospective buyers (as in the conventional Silent Auction). Instead, they buy tickets, which are chances to win items. Each item in the chance auction has a ticket container. Bidders place their tickets in the item containers that they hope to win. At the end of the chance auction, one ticket is picked at random from each item’s ticket container. The person’s whose name is on that tickets wins the item. A bidder may increase the chance of winning by buying and bidding more tickets on a specific item. At the end of the auction, the winner of each item can pick up their item.

How does the Silent Auction work?

During a silent auction, bids are written on a sheet of paper that is commonly placed with the item. At the end of the silent auction, the highest listed bidder wins the item. At the end of the auction, the winner of each item will pay their bided price and pick up the item that they won.
