Dan O’Brien and Molly Smith started Vinedo Pajaro Azul in 2012 with the planting of 250 Cabernet Franc plants. The following year they planted 750 more plants (photos attached) – approximately 250 Chardonnay, 250 Zinfandel and 250 Cabernet Sauvignon plants with 50 Tempernillo added a couple years later. A large casita with a fully equipped wine making/storage garage was added to the property about three years ago. With the assistance of other local vintners, they have slowly honed their wine making abilities. Their wine production, which includes wines made from grapes from other local vineyards, now far exceeds their consumption abilities so they plan to become licensed to commercially sell their wine in the near future as retirement from their day jobs hopefully nears.

The grapes used to make their wines are organic.
